The Koyo Store Blog - December 2019

If you’re reading this then well done! You’ve almost made it to the end of another year – all that’s required is a final push over the next couple of weeks and you’re there.
But for all the thoughts of turkey and trimmings, we’ve only just recovered from basking in the esports community’s collective glory at the Esports Awards 2019.
We were honored to be able to join leading figures from across the esports industry when they gathered at The Esports Stadium Arlington on November 16th to induct 2019’s class into the Esports Hall of Fame.
From publishers to the players, the awards recognised talent from every facet of the industry.
Hosted by Eefje ‘Sjokz’ Depoortere, Alex ‘Goldenboy’ Mendez, Juan ‘HungryBox’ DeBiedma, and Lottie Van-Praag, the night saw awards presented by esports stars including 2018’s Esports Console Rookie of the Year Kenny and industry veteran Hector ‘HECZ’ Rodriguez.
Over 3.75 million community votes were cast to determine the winners. The coveted Streamer of the Year award was won for the second time by the infamous Dr DisRespect.
The Esports Awards organisers say more than 7 million watched the night unfold on live streams – in fact, if you missed it you can check out the full stream here: https://www.esportsawards.com/watch/
As proud Category Partners The Koyo Store also had a practical role to play on the night –
We created custom VIP boxes for some of the biggest names in the esports industry, in addition to designing and manufacturing bespoke Winners, Finalists, Hall of Fame & Play of the Month presentation coins for those involved. It meant the recipients could say ‘I was there!’ to all their colleagues, fans and friends after the event.
In fact, as you’ve probably noticed, esports has been a key focus for The Koyo Store this year. In a similar vein to our Esports Awards custom products, we also recently provided Winners, Finalists and ‘I Was There’ Coins, Pin Badges & Patches for the Rainbow Six Japan Pro League finals a few weeks ago.
Plus, we’ve just announced a partnership with Manchester-based team Vexed Gaming to offer its fan base and supporters an exciting and unique range of branded collectibles.
In addition to traditional merchandise items, such as key rings and pin badges, the partnership will see Vexed offer a range of merchandise and jewelry, including a necklace/bracelet compatible drop charm.
It’s the first time a leading team has embraced the world of costume jewelry for women – you can check the range out here https://thekoyostore.com/collections/vexed alongside other ranges for DarkZero Esports and Ninjas in Pyjamas.
But of course, if you’re on the hunt for stocking fillers, we also have lots to choose from in our Game of Thrones line-up, the Six Collection and our ever-growing Content Creators pin sets.
And for a bit of extra reading, why not hop over to Retail Gazette, to see what The Koyo Store CEO Lee Townsend thinks about the games merch opportunity in retail (clue: it’s massive) https://www.retailgazette.co.uk/blog/2019/11/comment-big-opportunity-entertainment-merch-retail/.
Finally, we’d like to wish all of our followers, customers and partners a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful 2020 – You’re all amazing and we couldn’t do any of this without you!
